What goes better with wine tasting than a fictional novel that takes place during Prohibition? Local author Blaine Beveridge has written “A Bit of Candy in Hard Times” about a 1920s fisherman and rum runner who plies his trade—both fishing and rum running—in local waters. If you’ve ever steered a boat in the Northwest, you’ll enjoy reading about all the places this likeable but shady character travels to and from Seattle and the nearby islands. Blaine will explain what inspired him to write this story and the research that went into it.
